Plain Packaging: What the Box Says, and What It Can't Hide
Our parcels carry no store name and no description of what is inside. What that protects, what couriers and customs still see, and how to stay discreet.
In short: The outer box has no store name, no logo and no description of the contents, and the sender line is a plain name. The courier still sees the name and address you give, and a parcel that crosses a border carries a customs form that has to describe its contents truthfully.
A parcel announces things before it is opened: who sent it, and often what is inside. A box printed with a phone maker's logo on a doorstep, or a label that names a crypto shop, tells neighbours, building staff and anyone handling it more than you might want. Here is exactly how we pack, and where the limits are.
What the parcel looks like
- A plain outer box. No store name, no logo, no product photos and no "fragile: electronics" stickers that advertise value.
- A plain sender line. The label shows a plain name as the sender, not "Buy Tech With Crypto".
- The maker's box inside. The item stays sealed in its original packaging, inside our outer box, so its retail box is not what sits on your doorstep.
What we keep private on our side
- Wallets and keys ship from us. Hardware wallets and security keys always ship from us, never directly from the maker, so the maker never learns your name or address.
- Your details are erased. Your name, street address and phone number are deleted from our records 90 days after delivery.
- The phone number is optional. Give one if you want the courier to be able to call you; leave it out if you would rather not.
What plain packaging cannot hide
Being honest about this matters more than sounding reassuring.
- The courier sees the label. The name, address and any phone number you give are printed on it or held by the carrier, because that is how a parcel is delivered.
- Customs forms describe the contents. A parcel that crosses a border carries a customs declaration, usually on the outside, listing what is in it and its value. That is the law, and we will not describe contents falsely.
- Tracking events are visible to the carrier. Where the parcel was, and when, is recorded in the carrier's system.
How to keep a delivery discreet
- Use a parcel locker or pickup point where your local carrier offers them. They take a parcel like any other address.
- Deliver to a place where someone receives parcels for you, such as a workplace mailroom, if that suits you better than home.
- Track it. The tracking number appears on your order page as soon as the parcel ships, so you can collect it promptly instead of leaving it on a doorstep.
Paying without leaving a trail
The packaging is the last step. The first is the payment: no card and no bank, an order without an account, and a coin of your choice. If on-chain privacy matters to you, Monero hides the sender, the receiver and the amount. The privacy policy lists everything we store and when it goes, and the security and wallets guide covers buying a hardware wallet without the maker learning your address.
